DEACON | AHdEACONS@theorchard.church
Steve was born and raised in Prospect Heights, Illinois just one mile from The Orchard Arlington Heights. He graduated from Hersey High School, and later earned degrees from Wake Forest University, Northern Illinois University (M.S. in Computer Science), and attended the University of Chicago MBA program. Now retired from a career in I.T., Steve substitute teaches part-time at Conyers Learning Academy, a therapeutic day school in Rolling Meadows. He also serves as an officer on the board of the Northbrook Symphony Orchestra.
Steve put his faith in Christ as a junior in high school. Reading the Bible deeply impacted him, and he was captivated by Christ’s life, words, and sacrifice on the cross. Steve married Cindi Olenik Johnson at The Orchard, and they recently celebrated 36 years of marriage. They have two sons, Brad and Tim, two daughters-in-law, Belle and Libby, and one
grandson, Jacob. Steve has been a member of The Orchard since 1989. He sings tenor in the Ensemble, which helps
lead worship once a month.
